Congratulations on your first step to becoming a Georgia Southern Eagle. We want you guys to know that we're here for you, and we serve the Statesboro, the Savannah and Liberty campuses. We're owned and operated by the university, so all of our proceeds go to fund student events and student life, so that we're giving back to the university. Please feel free to come and check us out. A few things that you need to remember that hopefully we have some tips and some ideas before you start in your fall semester.
So first, you log into your mygeorgiasouthern.edu account. Select Course Booklets under Registration Information tab. Select the proper term, then click Get My Books. You will get a complete list of the textbooks for all your courses in alphabetical order by your author's last name. You can select which course the textbook is being used. If you are in store, you can simply just walk through the aisles, and each of the labels will start with the last name, starting with "A." Walk through the textbook aisles and find which books you need in that order.
Also, you can order your books online by simply going to gsustore.com. There, you can choose the courses that you're taking, and then also be able to put those books in your cart. And then you can check out by using either your financial aid scholarship, EagleXpress, we have that too, or just using your credit card to pay for your books. And what you're able to do then is you can ship it to your home. Just remember that when books are going out the first week of August, that you want to give enough time to be able to get those books to you. So don't send it to your mom and dad's house, you'll be stuck without them. Or you can do the in store pickup which is simple and easy. We'll put up books for you. You come in with your ID, you pick them up, and you're out the door. So we're trying to make it easy for you guys to be able to get all the books that you need. But listed on that gsustore.com also has all the materials for each individual courses that you may need for your semester.
So to make this easier, sections are designated as required. Choose one recommended or optional based upon what your instructor has listed, and what different forms of the textbooks the store has been able to find on the market. Required means that simply you must have this textbook to be successful. Choose one means that you can pick between a loose leaf or ebook version of that textbook. Recommended means that your instructor thinks that this title may be helpful for you to be successful in the class as well. Optional is up to you, if you would like to enjoy a book or find it helpful in your course. We also list bookstore recommended for study aids that we carry to help you be more successful in your courses like bar charts that are laminated study guides and some of those types of things that will help you in the class as well.
When you come in the store, you can look on the shelf and see the shelf tag will have all the information, whether the book is new or used, if it's rentable, or you can have it as an ebook. A lot of times, the ebook option is very popular with our students, because the cost is a third of what it usually is for a printed book. All the materials are on the shelf, so you'd be able to check it out and look at it and see what you're going to need, and hopefully be able to buy the needs for next semester.
And of course, we recommend starting to order your books in the fall, which is the first week of August. We usually have most of the textbooks in stock by then, and you're able to use your financial aid bookstore credit as well. And also students that have qualified for this advance on their financial aid award that exceeds tuition fees and counseling, that's basically what your bookstore credit is. So if you have money left over after you've paid your fees, tuition, those things, check your bookstore credit amount available on your mygeorgiasouthern account. It's on there. It will say bookstore credit, and it will have an amount that you have to use for your textbooks. We also carry school supplies, iclickers, calculators, art supplies, and backpacks. All of these and textbooks can be purchased with your bookstore credit.
So be sure to come by and check us out. Not only do we have all your course material needs, we have your swag that you're going to need to start out your semester. We also have a rewards program that you're able to bank some points and be able to get discounts throughout the year. So make sure you come by and check us out and Go Eagles.
