Hi everyone, my name is Julissa Ortiz, and I am the Admissions Counselor here at the Liberty campus. Before we begin our tour today, I want to share a little bit about what I do and a little bit about myself. So being the Admissions Counselor here at the Liberty campus means that I am the point of contact for all admissions related questions. I help students with the application process, program of study options, residency waivers and scholarship opportunities. So a little bit about myself is that I am a Georgia Southern graduate. I love nature as well, as well as my current personal goal involves reading all the Harry Potter books, and then watching all the movies. So please keep me accountable. Currently, I am on book number two.
Okay, so now that you know me a little bit more, let's begin our campus store. So currently we are outside on our green space. This space is perfect for on campus events. Last fall, we had our Community Day here at the Liberty campus, which meant that we invited our current students, prospective students and their families and community members to just celebrate an afternoon outside. Having that community feel, we had free hotdogs, hamburgers, outdoor games, all while learning a little bit about Georgia Southern. Another great event that we have here on the Liberty campus, one of my favorites, is our Passport to Latin America event that we have during Hispanic Heritage Month. This event welcomes our students, faculty and staff to celebrate culture and try delicious foods from various countries.
Now I want to invite you to come inside with me to check out inside of the building. So now we're located in front of the Student Commons. The Student Commons is where you'll find our students studying, working on homework, eating lunch or just hanging out. The Student Commons is also home to our academic advisors, so their offices are located right here, really accessible to students. As well, behind me, we have our tutor room. So the Liberty campus does offer tutoring in Biology, Math and English. If you need help in another subject, please know that Georgia Southern does have an online tutor system. Lastly, let's take a look at our flier board. This flier board is a great resource for students to inform themselves about what's happening at the Liberty campus, university and the Liberty community. It is a great resource to know when on campus services are offered here, such as when the Office of Professional Development is here to serve students.
We are now in the front office. If you have any questions, please note that our students assistants are here to help you. Located down this hallway, you will find our other faculty and staff members. Our faculty members do have their office hours posted on their doors, so I highly encourage you to visit that when possible. Another great resource we have down this hallway is our Military and Veterans Services. So any questions regarding your VA GI benefits, please know there's someone here to assist.
Down this hallway you will find some of our classrooms. Here at Liberty campus, students can earn a bachelor's degree in Psychology or Elementary Education, an associate degree, or they can complete their core classes here before transitioning to the Armstrong or Statesboro campus. So if you follow me, you'll kind of see a glimpse of our classroom setting. Classrooms do vary in size and how they look like. Some contain smart boards, others have projection screens, and we even have a synchronized classroom. So now we can go upstairs and check out the other rooms.
So we are now located on our second to last story. So upstairs we'll find our study rooms. We have two study rooms where students can reserve them. They are equipped with monitors, dry erase boards, basically anything that you need to study.
Now let's go take a look at our labs. So now we are in the Anatomy lab. On Liberty campus, we do have this Anatomy lab as well as our Biology lab. They're both highly equipped and both fairly new. For this lab, if you're a Pre-Nursing major, please know that you can complete your first two years of classes here at Liberty campus before applying to the Nursing program at the Statesboro or Armstrong campus.
So we're going to conclude our tour back outside. The Liberty campus is located in downtown Hinesville. We're about 10 minutes away from Fort Stewart, and the public library is directly across from us. So the Liberty campus is a small school. We only have about 500 students, but just because we are small, doesn't mean you can't succeed here. Remember, big things usually have small beginnings. Let me know if you have any questions. I appreciate your time, and I hope you have a wonderful day.
